Suggestions for Running an Effective Education Forum

 

Session Day

  • ARRIVE in the room approximately 10-15 minutes prior to the session so you have time to check in with the co-moderator.

  • MAKE SURE all PowerPoint presentations have been downloaded onto the computer in the room. Notify the AV technician if a presentation is missing.

  • MEET the presenters prior to the beginning of the session. Ensure they know how to change slides, use microphone, etc.

  • REMIND presenters they must have a disclosure slide in their presentation and also verbally disclose. If they have no financial relationships to disclose, they must say so. DISCLOSURES

    • All speakers and moderators ARE REQUIRED to verbally disclose any financial relationships with ineligible companies prior to the session.

    • If they have no financial relationships to disclose, they must say so.

During the Session

  • As a moderator it is your job to SET THE TONE of the session.

  • SUGGESTED INTRODUCTION VERBIAGE: We’re thrilled to see so many of you here today. To help everyone join, please take a moment to move toward the center of your row and place any bags on the floor. This will make it easier for others still coming in to find a seat and participate. Thank you for being so considerate!

  • INTRODUCE the first speaker. Each speaker should then introduce the next speaker to save time.
