Correlative Session Moderators
Suggestions for running an effective session
Before Session
REVIEW the abstracts for your session.
PREPARE at least one question for each abstract in case there are no questions from the audience.
Session Day
ARRIVE in the room approximately 10-15 minutes prior to the session so you have time to check in with the co-moderator.
MAKE SURE all PowerPoint presentations have been downloaded onto the computer in the room. There should be 7-8 abstracts assigned to your session. Please check the app to see how many abstracts will be in your correlative session. Notify the AV technician if a presentation is missing.
MEET the presenters prior to the beginning of the session to check pronunciation of their name.
REMIND presenters they must have a disclosure slide in their presentation and also verbally disclose. If they have no financial relationships to disclose, they must say so.
During the Session
As a moderator it is your job to SET THE TONE of the session.
SUGGESTED INTRODUCTION VERBIAGE: We’re thrilled to see so many of you here today. To help everyone join, please take a moment to move toward the center of your row and place any bags on the floor. This will make it easier for others still coming in to find a seat and participate. Thank you for being so considerate!
Today we are discussing XXX. We have XXX presenters who have 10 minutes to present and 5 minutes for Q&A.
INTRODUCE the abstract and the presenter.
