National Faculty Responsibilities:

  • Know the course materials, practice with the slides prior to teaching.

  • Confirm everyone registered for the course meets eligibility.

  • We recommend you download the slides each time you teach to ensure you have the latest version.

  • Know your audience - pay special attention to the disciplines of the attendees.

  • Follow the agenda to ensure the course sticks to the 4-hour timeline.

  • Get participants engaged in the course. Participants should ask questions and participate in activities readily.

  • Give actionable feedback to the participants, provide constructive feedback they can use to improve instructor skills.

  • Represent the ABA and the ABLS program in a positive way. Create a welcoming learning environment.  


ABA Staff Responsibilities:

  • Create a query for the National Faculty member to receive updates on who is registered for the course.

  • Assign chapter slides, case studies and patient simulations to participants two weeks before the course.

  • Print onsite course materials.

Onsite Materials:

  1. Registration list / sign-in sheet

  2. Course Agenda

  3. Note sheet for the didactic demonstration portion of the course.


After the course:

  • 3 business days after the course, ABA will email the course evaluation out to the participants. Along with the link to customer service portal. Participants can use this as a resource to find additional information about the instructor certification process.

  • National Faculty should email their reimbursement documents to ABA central office staff within 2 weeks after he course. List all expenses including the $500 honorarium on the miscellaneous line.
