The burn center is responsible for coordinating the following logistical tasks to prepare for your burn center’s verification site visit:
Travel Logistics for Site Reviewers
Arrange and pay for ground transportation to and from the airport and communicate this information to the site reviewers ahead of time.
Arrange and pay for lodging for the reviewers and communicate this information ahead of time.
It is the responsibility of the site reviewer to communicate flight details to the burn center.
Breakout Sessions & Reviewer Deliberations
Schedule Nursing and Therapy Breakout Sessions and reviewer deliberations.
Coordinate with Therapy and Nursing reviewers to set up a virtual meeting roughly 2 weeks out to test software and equipment to ensure that there are no technical difficulties on the day of the review.

Day #1
Morning- Nursing and Therapy breakout sessions
Burn Center must set up 90 minute virtual breakout session with therapy and nursing reviewers. This session should involve nursing and therapy leadership. Breakouts must be scheduled either on the first day of the site visit, ideally in the morning before chart review begins, or in the week preceding the onsite visit. A 30-minute video conference should also be arranged for the virtual surveyors to debrief and collate their input after both breakout sessions have been completed.
1:00-4:00 PM – Chart review and performance improvement
4:00-5:00 PM – Review of prevention, outreach, and research documentation
6:30-8:30 PM – Executive session and PRQ review over dinner, with hospital and burn center leadership
Day #2
7:00-8:30 AM – Breakfast meeting with representatives of the entire burn team
8:30-10 AM – Patient rounds and tour
10-10:15 AM – Private meeting of surveyors with burn center director
10:15-11 AM – Private reviewer deliberation
11:00 AM – Exit interview
Resonsibilities of the Burn Center

Set up a 30-minute video conference for all 4 reviewers to debrief and collate their input after both breakout sessions have been completed.
Arrange transportation for the site reviewers, to and from the airport to the hotel and to and from the hotel to the burn center.
Burn Center Director Responsibilities:
meets informally with the reviewers, prior to the formal dinner meeting
is available throughout the site visit
answers site reviewer questions
accommodates a professional, congenial experience for all site visit participants
