Step 1: Source Your National Faculty
Qualifications for National Faculty:
Only National Faculty who have completed the webinar and are “T4 trained” may teach Instructor Courses.
Faculty Requirements Based on Class Size:
1–6 participants: One National Faculty required.
7–15 participants: Two National Faculty required.
Courses cannot exceed 15 participants.
Preparation:
Ensure all National Faculty teaching the course are familiar with the guidelines.
If You Don’t Have National Faculty On-Site:
Use the Coordinator and Instructor Communities on MyAmeriburn myAmeriburn to source a qualified National Faculty member.
Travel and lodging expenses must be negotiated between the requesting organization and the National Faculty. The ABA does not reimburse for these expenses.

Identify National Faculty:
Confirm the National Faculty member(s) who will teach the course.
Submit the Course Request Form:
The ABLS Coordinator should submit the request on the ABA member site .using the general course request form
Include “Instructor Course” next to the date.
Specify which National Faculty member should receive roster updates.
ABA Staff Processing:
ABA staff will process the request, add the course to the system, and provide:
The registration link.
Hosting instructions.

Send Welcome Email:
Include the slide assignments and the slide deck (available in from the Instructor instructor team on at the ABA learning platformLearning Center).
Assign Slides:
Use the provided slide assignment template.
For larger classes, distribute additional chapters so each participant presents about eight slides.

AV Requirements:
Same as ABLS Live: laptop, podium, projector, and screen.
Microphones are likely not needed for smaller courses.
Course Materials:
Download Before the course begins, download and review the instructor course slides before the course begins. Materials are available in the ABLS National Faculty myAmeriburn community library.
Room Setup:
Classroom-style seating.
For courses with more than six participants, ensure space to split into two smaller groups for case study and patient assessment practice. This can be done in the same room or an additional breakout room.
Additional Items Needed:
Moulage dummies for case studies and patient assessments.
Paper and pens/pencils for National Faculty to take notes on candidates.
Print copies of the slide assignments for National Faculty, with space for presentation notes.

When deciding how often to host instructor courses, consider how many instructor candidates your organization can feasibly handle observing in a year. If you have too many candidates, you run the risk of having to arrange risk arranging their observations at other organizations or bring bringing in more National Faculty to observe them, which can become costly. |
